Grain-Free ≠ Allergy-Free

What every dog owner should know

A common mix-up

"Grain-free" only describes what a food leaves out. It doesn't guarantee your dog won't react to what's still in the bowl.

Know the difference

  • Food allergy: an immune reaction to a specific protein
  • Grains are not the only possible trigger
  • Food sensitivity: a digestive tolerance issue
  • Grain-free: simply no wheat, corn or rice
  • None of these guarantee no reaction

Read the ingredients

What matters is what's inside, not just the front-of-bag claim. If you suspect an allergy, your vet can help identify the actual trigger.

General educational information, not veterinary advice. When in doubt, talk to your veterinarian.
